I am so sick of Hollywood pumping out one white savior movie after another. From To Kill a Mockingbird to Blood Diamond and Freedom Writers, the tradition of the media portraying blacks and other people of color as always needing a white person to "save them" goes way back. Here's an article by Joe Queenan that appeared in the LA Times about "why movies about Africa require white saviors."
